University of Abuja Probes Students’ For Their Poor Academic Performance

Univeristy Of Abuja, UNIABUJA Probes Students’ Poor Academic Performance.

The University of Abuja is to look into the poor academic performance of its students over an eight-year period with a view to facilitate improvement.

A statement from the Deputy Registrar (Information), Waziri Garba, said the university’s senate at its 159th regular meeting held recently set up a 13-man committee to investigate the academic performances of students from 2008-2015.

The Committee which will be chaired by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Musa Ashom Maisamari, is to look at the distribution of class of degrees of grandaunds for each academic programme over the period, review the admission process and identify any lapses as well as evaluate campus life, students’ reading culture, personal study time, library usage, students’ involvement in distractive activities and the value system, the statement said.

The quality of lectures according to the statement will be evaluated based on mastery, specialization, workload on lecturers, adequacy of staff and environmental factors, among others.
