According to the SSG, the terms of reference of the panel, amongst others include: to examine the personnel profile of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), prior to 2014; determine the adequacy or otherwise of the personnel profile of the commission and examine what informed the alleged unauthorised recruitment of 2014 and the brain(s) behind it. It will also identify the total number of those illegally recruited, their current duty posts, grade level and remuneration; identify the total financial loss incurred as r result of the exercise and the possibility of recouping same; and determine the command structure of the Commission vis-a-vis its parent Ministry to establish the final authority for the recruitment. The panel is also expected to suggest possible disciplinary actions against culprits; suggest measures to forestall future occurrence; and any other matter that the panel finds relevant to effective discharge of its assignment. The Administrative panel is to be chaired by a former Head of Service, Alhaji Yusuf Kawu Daibu, while the director political, Governor’s office; Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru is the Secretary. Other members of the panel are Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare; Mrs. Dupe Oluwole, State Solicitor General; Mrs. Funsho Lawal, State Auditor General; Mr. Samuel Adeyeye; and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; Hajia Mariam Garba. Meanwhile, the panel has one week to submit its report to the State government.

Kwara State government have set up a five-man panel committee to look into the irregularity in the State’s teaching service commission -The State governor is unhappy at some illegal recruitment of some teachers in the State.

This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday, July 27, and made available to NAIJ.com by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold. According to him, the discovery of the irregular recruitment was part of the immediate outcomes of the state-wide staff verification exercise embarked upon in the last couple of months.

Alhaji Gold explained that the said recruitment was conducted outside the laid down procedures for recruitment into the service which provides for a systematic staff replacement process that is based on need assessment and funded from accrued savings from retiring staff at no extra cost to the government.
