Ronaldo decides to leave Real Madrid after they put an insulting €100m price tag (Marca)
Socceruncle | July. 05, 2018
Marca claim Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave Real Madrid after they put an “insulting” €100m price-tag on him and Juventus can now take advantage.
There are now so many sources reporting the idea of a transfer to Turin that it is difficult to argue otherwise, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it will go through.
According to tomorrow’s edition of Spanish paper Marca, Ronaldo made up his mind to quit Real Madrid in January.
That is when the famous ‘release clause’ – in fact a gentlemen’s agreement rather than a legal document – was introduced.
It stated that the Merengues would let CR7 go for €100m as long as it wasn’t to a direct rival, for example Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain.
At the time, they were presumably thinking of a club in China or the United States and not another European side.
As it happened just months after PSG activated the €222m release clause in his Barcelona contract, Ronaldo felt “insulted” to be worth just €100m.
With this in mind, he decided then and there to walk away come the end of the season, as he no longer felt appreciated at the Bernabeu.
This would explain his comments straight after the Champions League Final: “It has been wonderful playing for Real Madrid.”
Now Juventus can take full advantage of that same €100m agreement that is pushing Ronaldo away from Madrid.
The other turning point was the overhead kick stunner he scored at the Juventus Stadium in the Champions League, as he received a standing ovation from the home fans.
He felt genuinely appreciated and admired their sportsmanship, claims Marca.

NYSC Members Takes Over Teaching Jobs at Kogi State University

The crises rocking the Kogi State University, Ayingba, has taken a dangerous dimension as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said that the management of the institution has resorted to using members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and non teaching staff to teach first degree courses and supervise students projects.

According to the union, this follows the mass sacking of one hundred and twenty members of the academic staff after the proscription of academic staff union of universities ASUU-KSU through a proclamation by the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello last July.

In a statement issued over the weekend by the Acting chairman of the proscribed union, Oluwagbemiga Aina, the union stated that it had became imperative to draw the attention of the public to the unethical practices being carried out in the institution where “Unqualified persons (Technologists, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and other non-teaching staff) are being co-opted to teach courses and supervise student projects.

“It is pathetic and unfortunate that taking a cursory look at the list of the purportedly sacked lecturers, identifying the courses they teach, the reallocation of such courses and identifying those who are assigned to teach those courses, it is crystal clear that the “one ready to kill has met the one ready to die” while not knowing that there is no one to bury. Stench results!!”

According to him,”KSU, Anyigba has degenerated almost beyond the pre- 2005 era. Unethical practices are done with imminent colossal damage in an effort to create the impression that all is well within the system.”

Aina said that “in several departments, postgraduate programmes have folded up completely and where there seems to exist, they are being handled by unqualified persons; where a number of Ph.D and Masters Degree Students did their external defenses without the knowledge of their Major Supervisors.”

“Also, completed undergraduate projects hitherto supervised by the purportedly sacked lecturers were re-assigned and graded by lecturers who never took part in the supervision; in some instances, the names of the original supervisors were fraudulently removed and replaced with those who were not part of the supervision process. These are clear cases of plagiarism. There is a need to beware!!,” he said.

He alleged that allegations abound that fraudulent activities like sales of lecture materials are rife as a result of the current situation in the University.

“In some cases, some ‘lecturers’ reportedly instruct students to browse and download lecture materials without teaching in readiness for their end of semester examinations. There are so many courses still left untaught and this cuts across almost all the Departments with far reaching implications on the quality of the University degrees.

“Pitiable is the current state of our colleagues who decided to fall into irrelevance in our struggle to build the KSU, Anyigba of our dream at this point in time. Of course, this is apart from the demons, monsters and sycophants who are manipulating them for their selfish goals,” he said.

The Union stated that despite its efforts aimed at amicable resolution of the crisis, Kogi state government had instead resorted to intimidation.

“For the past three months, we were being pushed, pressed, oppressed and persecuted. We have prevailed to absorb all in our stride, hoping that the voice of reason, sanity and legalism will prevail across the strata of our tormentors.”

“It is common knowledge that proscription of a Trade Union is beyond the jurisprudence of an Executive Governor, adding that it had given time for this error to be corrected”.

Nigerians Used Over 400millions Condoms Annually - SGF Speak Out

Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday during the launch of Flex condom, SFH’s Managing Director, Bright Ekweremadu, said that the 400 million condom consumption may still be far below the NGO’s estimation going by the rate of unprotected $ex in the country.

He said the new brand of condom which comes with a lot of flavours, has more strength and could last longer during the period.

“We have been in the business of condom production for over 30 years. We have done a lot of things in educating people to embrace abstinence with our zip-up campaign. There are obviously $exually active Nigerians who may not totally abstain from $ex and this led to our alternative, particularly at this time when HIV/AIDs is prevalent in the country,” he said.

Ekweremadu added that the Society would continue to make condoms available to Nigerians at affordable prices because they are subsidized by donor agencies.
”What we are doing now is expanding choices for the $exually active Nigerians who are using condoms. So we have varieties of condoms with different features to make $ex worth it, for those who will use the condom. We are not promoting $ex. What we are promoting is responsible $ex. If you know you cannot abstain, the best thing is to use condom; it’s safe for you and your partner”, he said.

Assu May Be Move To Resume National Strike This Week

The tertiary education sector is sitting on a time bomb. The Federal Government is yet to honour its agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). I don’t think the Federal Government wants ASUU to go on another strike but if this situation extends beyond the October 31 deadline, then ASUU will very likely go on strike again. President of the association, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi had, in announcing the “conditional suspension” of the previous strike, said the action was taken after the union gave the Federal Government a deadline of the end of October to fulfill its promises. We don’t want another strike, however short it may be. The universities and their students are yet to recover from the last one. Exams that should have long been concluded are only being rounded off now. The holiday that is supposed to follow has been shortened. The academic calendar has been disrupted. We can’t afford to have further disruption of our academic calendar. No one knows how many Nigerian students were involved in accidents and how many died on our bad roads when traveling to and from school at the commencement and cancellation of the last ASUU’s strike. We can’t afford to risk the lives of these students again. Drop your views!!

11 Healthy Eating Tips For The Active College Student

Eating a healthy meal is good for you, even if you’re a busy college student. It will help you feel and perform better both at mental and physical activities in school. However, the average college student is pressed for time.

11 Healthy Eating Tips For The Active College Student

Healthy eating habits

1. Eat breakfast: Do all you can to ensure you don’t miss breakfast. It’s not for nothing that breakfast is called the most important meal of the day. Countless studies have shown the important of eating in the morning. So even if you’re utterly busy and pressed for time, try to put some food in your stomach in the morning before stepping out and starting the day’s activities. Be it a piece of snacks, a cup of tea or coffee, a few slices of bread. Eat something.
2. Cut down on fast food: Even if you must, go for snacks with low caloric content. Limit your intake of processed and deep fried snacks. Eat some healthy snacks like cheese, fried potato and akara with pap. Ultimately, eat light if you have to be in class. If you eat heavy meals, it might slow you down for the first few hours, and you don’t want that.
3. Don’t starve yourself: Many students actually deliberately avoid meals when there’s little or no time on their hand. But when your brains does not get enough supply of nutrients, it might be slow in its function. So eat. Chew on snacks randomly. Have some healthy snack in hand – a piece of fruits, some groundnuts, popcorn, crackers or biscuit, etc. just make a habit of eating, that’s if you’re not battling weight issue. If you’re always studying and being involved in mind-tasking endeavors, then your brain needs to have all the nutrients it can get. The little foods you eat now and then will help to maintain your mental balance and alertness.
4. Eat some calcium-rich foods: If you’re young and active, you need to take care of your bone health. This is not only god for physical fitness for the present, it’s also god for the time when your bones begin to lose mass and density. So eat leafy greens and enjoys your mil as often as you can. It’s good for your overall health, especially as a college student.
5. Limit sugar and alcohol intake: Sugar is high in calories and is one of the most important cause of teeth decay for teens and young adults. Alcohol, on the other hand, has no nutritional benefit. Instead, too much of it will most definitely hamper your coordination, aside from the other health risks it poses for a lot of students.
6. I’d drink more water: if I were you. Have a bottle of water at hand. If you’re always busy, you need to keep your body well hydrated. While drinking beer or a flavored juice drink may cause some harmful side effects, water will do you a world of good. If you’re always on the move, expending a lot of energy running from one lecture hall to another, ensure you drink water always. Your body uses more water when you’re active, so you have to replenish the water as often as you can.
7. Eat what you enjoy: Of course, this is very important. While you’re advised not to indulge in fat-rich fast food diets that are usually high in sugar and calories, you to still eat what you enjoy. Being healthy doesn’t necessarily mean self-torture or starvation. You can still eat some meals that you enjoy, even if you’re a college student. It’s not so often that you get the opportunity to spoil yourself, so relax. Let down your hair once in a while and eat some great meals. You may have to reduce your serving and eat in measure quantity if need be. But try to find a balance and enjoy yourself, college student or not. Generally, this will help to enhance your psychological balance and mental alertness. You tend to perform well if you think clearly.
8. Brain food: As a student, you want to be at the top of your game. You want to stay sharp and alert always. Fortunately, there’s a number of foods that can enhance your brain power. Consider eating fish and egg regularly. Fish contains healthy omega-3 fatty oil that’s good for your brain health. It also contains high protein and choline, ingredients that are helpful for memory enhancement. Coffee, walnuts and avocadoes are also good for your brain development.
9.Fruits and veggies : Fruits like bananas, oranges and watermelon, as well as eggplant, are great for promoting brain function. They are rich in    nutrients like potassium, vitamins and iron that accelerates cells and muscle repair, and improves brain functions as well.
10. Eat balanced meal: In the final analysis, eating healthy for a college student is all about eating a balance diet. Don’t starve your brain of essential nutrients. Eat some beans, rice, wheat and wholesome grain; corn, papa or oatmeal. They’re good for promoting your health and wellness, and they come pretty affordable.
11. Exercise: You should find the time for recreation. Once or twice a week, set time aside for mental and physical recreational activities. You want to relieve stares and keep your brain sound always. That’s the benefits of a good exercise. You don’t have to do something tedious. Some light routine will suffice. Just strive to keep your mind and body active.
Here you have it, some great tips for the active college student. Ensure you maintain a healthy lifestyle that can promote your academic performance.
